Diving tours have enjoyed increased popularity among tourists in Iceland in recent years. In the Þingvöllur National Park diving is only allowed in two gorges, Silfra and Davíðsgjá. Silfra is one of the best diving sites in Iceland with about 7,000 people diving there every year. Davíðsgjá is situated more easterly in the National Park. Divers must comply with the rules and conditions for equipment and rights. They must also comply with all rules for diving and respect the rules of conduct in the National Park. It is not recommended to dive alone, dive in caves or go deeper than 18 meters. Divers dive entirely at their own risk and responsibility.
Northern light tours. The northern lights are a magnificent natural phenomenon, and foreign tourists are increasingly attracted to this fascinating artwork of nature. Over 27% of tourists go on northern lights tours, the ratio being 14% ten years ago. The northern lights are not always on display. When tourists come to Iceland, they immediately arrive in the northern lights area in Sudurnes and the capital area. The magnificent northern lights can sometimes be seen from the centre of Reykjavik, but going outside of the capital area where light pollution is very low to enjoy this natural phenomenon is highly recommended.
