Hafursey is tuff mountain in northern Mýrdalssandur. Fulmars frequently gather there and the slopes are dominated by vegetation. These slopes were the resting place of tourists travelling over the beaten track of Mýrdalssandur. A cave in the western side of the mountain previously served as a shelters and night-quarters of tourists.
