Iceland, Finland and Chile have along with many other countries decided to issue a joint stamp where the theme is the preservation of glaciers and polar regions. There is a danger that increasing tempereature on earth due to the greenhouse effect will greatly endanger glaciers and polar regions and constricting the livelihoods of those living close to these regions. The ecosystems of the arctic countries are sensitive to climate changes. It is forecasted that the average temperature on earth will increase by 2°-5°C in the next 50-100 years. However, in this period climate warming up to 10°C in air temperature is expected in the polar regions. When the minisheet is heated up the changes in the glacier regions become visible.
